Just an FYI, but you can get Windows 8 Pro at a discount until January 31st 2013.

I tried it on my machine, and it is a lot faster. The tiled interface takes a bit of getting used to, but it isn't as bad as I'd been expecting.

I can't fault it for its speed. I think I'm even getting used to the tiled interface now, for the most part.

Quote from Google
WIN+C shows a clock in the bottom left corner.
WIN+Q shows the applications list.
WIN+X shows a context menu on the bottom left with some quick links in (command prompt, control panel, my computer, etc).
WIN+. docks an app on the right
WIN+SHIFT+. docks an app on the left

You can still press WIN key, start typing a program name, then press enter. It just goes straight to the program search view.

I love it. I have it now on my main two machine but it can be infuriating on the laptop. I do prefer this to Vista and 7 though and that is a damn good thing. I got the full version of Pro for £20 though (smiley)
